Two old friends, SZ correspondents Boris Herrmann and Christian Zaschke, shed light on this question from two perspectives: After more than seven years as New York correspondent, Christian Zaschke is back in Berlin, while Boris Herrmann has now left for New York himself.

Boris Herrmann - US correspondent for the Süddeutsche Zeitung
Boris Herrmann has been the US correspondent for the Süddeutsche Zeitung based in New York since May 2024. Previously, he worked for the SZ as a sports reporter, Latin America correspondent in Rio de Janeiro and editor in the Berlin parliamentary editorial office.

Christian Zaschke - Berlin correspondent for the Süddeutsche Zeitung
Christian Zaschke was the US correspondent for the Süddeutsche Zeitung based in New York; he now reports from Berlin. Before that, he worked as a political correspondent in London and published several books, including "Hell's Kitchen: Stories from Manhattan".
