Make food, not waste! 
With a trash can as his kitchen and a Land Rover powered by used cooking oil, chef, journalist, and filmmaker David Groß sets out on an extraordinary road trip. His itinerary includes ten European countries, from Denmark to Romania. He’s guided by a simple idea: cooking with what others throw away—and discovering what lies behind it all. 

In Berlin, he organizes a “chop-and-chill” party with misshapen vegetables. At the European Parliament, he cooks with the leftovers politicians leave behind at the buffet. In Bristol, old slices of toast are turned into fresh beer. And on a fishing boat in Brittany, a soup is made from bycatch. Supposed waste is transformed into surprising dishes and stories—humorous, relatable, and without moralizing. 

Eventually, his journey takes him all the way to Japan, where David discovers a new perspective in the word “Mottainai”—a culture of mindfulness toward food, resources, and our planet. And along the way, the road trip turns into a delicious love story. Whether at the stove or in life, the rule is: don’t let anything burn.
