Christoph Hübner and Gabriele Voss have observed the changes in the Ruhr region for over 40 years and accompanied protagonists whose lives were shaped by the major changes to their jobs. A balancing act between regional development and the fates of individual people. It becomes clear that structural change not only means that mines have to close and landscapes have to be recultivated, but that people's social cohesion also has to be redefined.
