LOST IN JAZZ: Peace – Cross-Cultural Dialogue in Contemporary Jazz

The Hamburg trio Peace is fast becoming one of the most distinctive young voices on the European jazz scene. Founded at the HfMT Hamburg in 2023, the international ensemble brings together the award-winning Chinese vocalist Jiuning Liu, the German bassist and vocalist Lennart Meyer and the Brazilian guitarist Lucas Etcheverria.

During their performances, Peace creates an intimate atmosphere that invites listeners into a shared emotional space. Music that unfolds like a quiet, honest conversation between friends. Subtle sound structures, vocal harmonies, rhythmic and lyrical interplay and a strong sense of collective storytelling characterize the trio's aesthetic.

Since their formation in Hamburg, Peace has gained considerable recognition. The group released their self-titled debut EP to critical acclaim and have appeared on national German television and radio programs including NDR Kultur. Jazz-fun.de praised their music for its "delicate balance between tradition and innovation", while NDR Kultur highlighted the ensemble's "remarkable ability to create emotional closeness through reduction and clarity".

The trio has also shared the stage with some of Europe's most renowned jazz musicians, including Nils Landgren, Yumi Ito and Julian Sartorius (at the JazzHall SummerFestival), further consolidating its presence in the international jazz community.

Beyond Europe, the trio has already begun to make a name for itself worldwide. The group has toured China and performed at prestigious venues such as Blue Note Beijing, JZ Club Shanghai and Guangzhou.

Looking to the future, Peace continues to expand its artistic reach. The trio is scheduled to perform at major festivals in 2026, including Hamburg's Jazz Open, ELBJAZZ and Jazz à Juan in France, and is preparing for an upcoming tour of Brazil in September 2026.

With their thoughtful fusion of cultural influences, understated virtuosity and deeply human approach to music-making, Peace represents a new generation of jazz: one that focuses on connection, dialog and shared experience.
