In the organizer's words:

LOST IN MUSIC:

Stories from pop music

Event with readings and live music

IT'S A HARDCORE NIGHT was the name of a series of events in Munich at which authors, actors and celebrities read texts from their favorite books published by Heyne Hardcore, which still existed at the time, accompanied by music from local musicians and bands on the fly and then danced together.
Heyne Hardcore is now history.
But under the motto LOST IN MUSIC (based on the cult book by Giles Smith), the then publishing director and initiator of the event series Markus Naegele (also known as Don Marco as a musician and DJ) is once again bringing together what belongs together.

Letters, (auto)biographical texts, articles, novel excerpts from the wide world of pop music. Read aloud by authors, musicians, presenters and actors.
There will be live music on the fly, but not just any music, no, LOST IN MUSIC is also about the high art of cover versions, performed by local acts.
Afterwards, DJ King Brownie will be spinning his favorite records and it's time to party.

The speakers:

Richard Oehmann is, among other things, an author, puppeteer, speaker, director, as well as one half of Doctor Döbler's tasteful Punch and Judy show. Since 2018, he and Stefan Betz have been responsible for the direction and text of the Nockherberg Singspiel at Politiker-Derblecken.

Jacqueline Floßmann, born in Upper Bavaria in 1991, caused a sensation early on with her performance of Gerhard Polt's socio-critical play "Gemütlichkeit", which still receives standing ovations today. her bachelor's thesis was about the cultural significance of long hair in alternative music scenes. She worked as an editor at Classic Rock Magazine Germany, DJs old-fashioned pig rock on the side, runs the podcast Schneeweiß & Rosenrot, struggles with her ambivalent dual role as a feminist/rock lover and walks a wobbly knife-edge as the frontwoman of the duo Träsh. She also loves cats. Very.

Franz Dobler lives in Bavaria and has published novels and books of poetry since 1988, for which he was awarded the Bavarian Literature Prize, as well as short stories and music books, including the Johnny Cash biography "The Beast in Me". His crime novels "Ein Bulle im Zug" and "Ein Schlag ins Gesicht" both won the German Crime Novel Prize. The latter was filmed by Nina Grosse as "Nicht tot zu kriegen" with Iris Berben and Murathan Muslu. Most recently, his autobiographical novel "Ein Sohn von zwei Müttern" was published.

TRIKONT is probably the oldest independent record label in the world. And Eva Mair-Holmes has been the Trikont woman for what feels like a hundred years and still doesn't know what she'd rather be doing. Where else to put all her passion for music? Exactly. That's why.

Knut Cordsen, born in Kiel in 1972, attended the German School of Journalism in Munich and studied communication science, political science and sociology at Ludwig Maximilian University. Since 1997, he has worked in the cultural editorial department of BR and for other ARD broadcasters - as a literary critic and presenter of the programs "kultur-Welt", "Diwan. Das Büchermagazin" and "Sozusagen! Comments on the German language" (Bayern2).

Anna Jung, has been in the book industry for decades and has been there almost everywhere (most recently program director at Voland & Quist). Until recently she lived in Berlin, now back in Munich, formerly in Vienna and now and again in a small town.

Achim Bogdahn was born in Erlangen in 1965, grew up in Munich and works as a radio presenter for Bayerischer Rundfunk/Bayern 2. He studied Protestant theology in Munich, Berlin and Glasgow, was the singer in the band Isar 12 (published by Trikont) and is an ardent fan of TSV 1860 Munich (which is why his passport officially bears the stage name "Sechzig"). He has worked as an actor ("Trautmann"), he is a certified soccer referee, he speaks a little Danish and he loves to travel by train. "Under the Clouds" was his debut as a book author.

Live music:

Behind Angela Aux is the political scientist, author, songwriter and musician Florian Kreier, who also used to do hip-hop and has been singing and playing bass in the Munich band Aloa Input since 2012. As a solo musician, he moves between pop and underground, anti-folk and experimental pop. His music combines elements of indie pop, folk and experimental music and shows influences from artists such as Beck, The Velvet Underground, Mac DeMarco and The Beatles.

The pyramids of Giesing set Robert Müller's daydreams to music: the images come, disappear, stay or sneak through the cat door. In the end, you ask yourself: What was that? Krautrock, psychedelic, spaghetti westerns and a bit of unnoticed everyday life.

Philip Bradatsch is probably the most monstrous thing the German indie scene has produced in recent years. Someone with attitude, someone who takes a stand. He is by no means indifferent to current listening habits or playlists, he just doesn't want to cater to them. Instead, he presents them with cryptic, Dylanesque set pieces, creating a maelstrom of images, spaces and voices. And Philip Bradatsch comes up with surprises, his songs slowly build up, oppress, rebel furiously and dissolve into wonderful harmonies in the next moment. In the end, Philip Bradatsch is probably what nobody has dared to miss for so long: Rock'n'Roll.

Drug Stop is the name of the new band around Markus "Don Marco" Naegele, who has returned to English lyrics after Fuck Yeah and Don Marco & die kleine Freiheit and has gathered a new gang around him in Munich. Drug Stop spice up their 90s indie slacker rock with herbaceous-psychedelic ingredients, which touches on free-jazz realms through brass interludes, but also doesn't shy away from daring gospel choirs, feedback orgies or country moves. The debut album "Love you all the time" will be released on January 16, 2026 by Rheinschallplatten.

Die Libellen play indie pop with German lyrics. The Munich band consists of Christian (vocals, guitar), Olli (drums) and Jan (bass). Their lyrics revolve around the eternal questions: Why is everyone drinking Negronis at this party? Should I maybe stop drinking in general? Why do men spit on the street? Does love always have to be forever? And how do I become a useful member of society?

The title of his album "Jason B. Sad/Jason B. Glad" shows that Jason Arigato has at least two sides. And he actually has two identities. Because behind Jason is Albert Pöschl, musician and operator of the Munich indie label Echokammer. Jason Arigato, the name first appeared in 1999. At the time, Albert Pöschl used this pseudonym to join the Munich synth-pop band Queen Of Japan, which the international music world believed for a while was actually from Japan. With Jason Arigato, Pöschl refers to role models such as David Bowie or Klaus Nomi, who also constantly reinvented themselves.

Don Marco has been playing in various underground bands since the 90s. As singer, guitarist and songwriter in the indie garage band Fuck Yeah, he released two albums and played with bands such as Maximo Park, Algiers and Frightened Rabbit. As Don Marco & die kleine Freiheit, he released two albums in German with various musicians. 2024 saw the live debut of his new band Drug Stop. Under his real name Markus Naegele, he earned his living as publishing director at Heyne Hardcore and recently joined the editorial team at Kunstmann Verlag.

King Brownie comes from Osnabrück, where he influenced a whole generation musically as a DJ in Hyde Park and supported the likes of Die Ärzte, Stray Cats, Hanoi Rocks, Bo Diddley and the Undertones. He managed Lüde & the Astros for many years and works as a record salesman.
