If the cult of celebrity is the new religion, its messiah is Lucy McCormick. No one celebrates her own stage ego more brilliantly and subversively than the British artist, who hijacks the New Testament in a queer-feminist way in TRIPLE THREAT - and re-enacts it with herself in all the leading roles. The Bible as a power ballad and trash extravaganza, a cabaret of Christianity - burlesque, provocative, outrageously funny and absurdly subtle. McCormick celebrates the story of Jesus' birth, death and everything in between as a holy trinity of dance, song and performance (a "triple threat"!), breaking down gender boundaries, expectations and the horizons of our pop culture. Nudity and Nutella, sausages and incense, Jesus and Judas - the connections here are wonderfully cross-cutting. The evening (recommended for ages 18 and up!) was a hit at various British Fringe festivals and has scooped up 5-star reviews en masse. Praise be to Lucy!
