Sister is a music theater project by Lulu Obermayer about sisterhood, community and the centuries-old practice of spirituality and knowledge in women's convents. Based on Giacomo Puccini's Suor Angelica and Francis Poulenc's Dialogues des Carmélites, the performance works with the musical structures and libretti of the operas and interweaves the Liturgy of the Hours and liturgical chants with electronic music by Pantha Du Prince. On the basis of historical sources, autobiographical writings by nuns, her own early influence from a convent school, repeated stays in convents and exchanges with nuns, Lulu Obermayer opens up a perspective on the representation and disappearance of monastic communities.
