"We are all hungry for community, we are all hungry for justice, we are LÜTZERATH"

An extraordinary laboratory for a good life for all. People stand up for the preservation of the village of LÜTZERATH. They are taking a stand against the destruction of habitat and nature by the mining giant RWE. They take the Paris Climate Agreement seriously: global warming of more than 1.5° must not be exceeded in order to limit the global consequences. The activists in "LÜTZERATH" are concerned with much more: they are building their utopia of a good life in a self-organized and creative way. Wooden houses are built in the trees and on the ground using recycled materials. There is culture, festivals and
workshops. All of this is organized in daily gatherings without hierarchy in order to live a different world: more loving, funny, compassionate, self-determined and creative. And yet, in the end, Lützerath is forcibly evacuated in favor of climate-hostile coal mining for the profit interests of Europe's dirtiest open-cast lignite mine.
For over 20 months, the film documents the emergence of an extraordinary laboratory for a good life for all. And its destruction. The certainty remains: Only many together can be the sand in the gears to shape a necessary system change.
