The organ is regarded as an instrument capable of imitating all other instruments. In the work of Norwegian poet Øyvind Rimbereid, it becomes an all-encompassing symbol and a poetic body of sound: sometimes it brings comfort, sometimes destruction, sometimes it stands for an abandoned industry, sometimes for the triumph of colonialism, sometimes it even embodies Hegelian philosophy. Rimbereid's version and vision of this total instrument echoes the global communication of technical devices just as much as the music itself, be it by J. S. Bach or The Doors.
Øyvind Rimbereid was born in 1966 in Stavanger, the Norwegian 'oil capital', whose transformation he has repeatedly made the subject of his work. Having been honored with numerous prizes, Rimbereid is one of Scandinavia's most distinguished poets with ten volumes of poetry to his name. He has published four books in German, including "Solaris korrigiert", "Herbarium" and most recently "Orgelsee" (Edition Rugerup). In a reading discussion with his translator Thomas Fechner-Smarsly, Rimbereid will present this 'concept album', but also discuss literary influences.
