Macbeth can become ruler and wants to. In Russian director Timofei Kulyabin's production, there are no evil sisters, no belief in magic and mysticism, but there is a man whose insatiable desire for power turns him into a tyrant and murderer. In Kulyabin's play, Duncan, the king, is Macbeth's father, while Banquo and Macduff are his brothers. Macbeth thus commits patricide and fratricide in order to achieve his goal. It is the psychogram of a torn man who has a lust for evil, who spreads fear everywhere and wipes out everything that stands in his way. Even his own wife, Lady Macbeth. The unsettling question remains: what comes next?
