mahoin „Hamburger Hafenvarieté“

With plenty of steam and fresh ideas, mahoin's Hamburg harbor variety show returns to the Schmidt Theater and surprises with a new show format full of curiosities, wit and joie de vivre. Great artistry and handmade live music combine to create an entertaining stage experience that delights landlubbers and sea dogs of all ages. Sometimes loud and wild, sometimes quiet and soulful, an evening full of energy, humor and poetry unfolds.

The musical impetus is provided by mahoin: with accordion, percussion and lots of brass, they bring honest, analog dance music to the stage. Starting with newly interpreted Hamburg evergreens, the journey takes them out into the harbors and to the musical pearls of the world. The motto: Alors on danse, dance op de Deel - with driving Balkan beats, Italian and Ukrainian folk tunes and perhaps one or two of their own songs in shanty polka style.

The newly formed artistic crew creates powerful yet poetic images with contemporary artistry on the aerial pole, in the cyr ring and with bouncing juggling - straight from the pulsating life of a harbor. Together with his musical mates, helmsman Johnny navigates through the stage spectacle with a great deal of humor and fresh wit to create a harmonious whole.

Over the course of the evening, the enthusiastic ensemble makes the stage shake again and again: There is dancing, singing and laughter until finally the whole hall is upside down - and the audience is released into the night, exhilarated and fulfilled with "Auf der Reeperbahn nachts um halb eins".
