Manfred Krug – Abgehauen
In the organizer's words:
LUDWIG BLOCHBERGER & GOIN' OUT WEST QUINTET
A musical and literary revue based on the bestseller by Manfred Krug:
Ludwig Blochberger explores every facet of this popular, indomitable actor and singer, crafting an unusual, captivating, and moving portrait that reflects his era. Accompanied by the jazz musicians of the Goin’ Out West Quintet, he sings some of the most beautiful songs and classics from Krug’s repertoire, inviting the audience to rediscover his lyrics and songs and carry them forward into the present.
Manfred Krug (1937–2016): With his unconventional style and inimitable charm, the Duisburg-born actor, singer, and entertainer captivated an audience of millions and rose to become a DEFA star in the 1960s and ’70s. With films like “Spur der Steine”—initially banned for its anti-establishment tone and later achieving cult status—he shaped an entire generation. At the same time, he conquered the stage as a singer with a distinctive voice and laconic wit, performing his own jazz and chanson lyrics. After moving to West Germany, he made an impressive comeback: TV series such as “Liebling Kreuzberg,” “Auf Achse,” and “Tatort” cemented his status as a favorite with audiences across Germany.
Ludwig Blochberger, born in East Berlin in 1982, has been on stage since childhood. Musically influenced by the Vienna Boys’ Choir, he appeared as a teenager in the TV miniseries “Die Manns – Ein Jahrhundertroman” alongside Armin Mueller-Stahl. After studying at the “Ernst Busch” Academy of Dramatic Arts, he appeared in, among other projects, the Oscar-winning film “The Lives of Others.” He is known to a wider audience from the crime series “Der Alte” and “Kommissar Dupin.” Time and again, he portrays significant historical figures such as former German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt. As a singing actor, he pursues his great passion: music.
PRESS REVIEW
“It’s clear that he’s wholeheartedly committed to Krug’s cause and empathizes with his situation at the time. Blochberger didn’t merely imitate him but offered the audience more than they could have imagined.”
