Does feminism need male perspectives - or do they stand in its way? In this talk, we discuss masculinities, privileges and responsibility with author and journalist Fikri Anıl Altıntaş. The focus is on questions of solidary allyship, listening instead of dominating and the role of men in feminist struggles. How can patriarchal patterns be critically reflected upon without appropriating feminist spaces? And what opportunities, but also what tensions, arise when men position themselves in feminism? A conversation about attitude, self-criticism and necessary social change.

Fikri Anıl Altıntaş is an author, performer and controversial voice in debates about masculinity, role models and anti-feminism. He writes about the (de)construction of migrant, Muslim-Turkish masculinities in Germany - literary, political and always close to social realities. His texts appear in ZEIT and taz, among others, and he also works for Deutschlandfunk Kultur and ZDF. Following his debut "Im Morgen ein Birnbaum" (2023) and the poetry collection "Geografie der Unruhe" (2024), his new novel "Zwischen Uns Liegt August" will be published in August 2025. This was followed by contributions for Deutschlandfunk Kultur and ZDF, performances at Schauspiel Hannover and texts for theater stages, including the Berliner Ensemble. In October, the ARD documentary "Toxische Männlichkeit - Woher kommt die Wut auf Frauen?" was released on the subject of violence against women.
