"MARA" - Christian Redl, Rezitation, Christian Poltéra, Violoncello
In the organizer's words:
It is 300 years old, was born in Cremona under the hands of Antonio Stradivari and has had a more than eventful life story. The Mara, one of the most famous cellos ever, has traveled the world, almost died in a shipwreck and bears scars from an irascible previous owner. Cellist Christian Poltéra saved it from another stroke of fate at the last second and has enjoyed the privilege of playing it ever since.
The story is so fascinating that the Austrian author Wolf Wondratschek gave the instrument itself a voice in a story.
Barbara Auer and Christian Poltéra combine literature and music to create a haunting tale about the legendary Stradivarius cello "Mara". (Unfortunately, the actor Christian Redl had to cancel his originally planned participation in the musical reading for health reasons).
The Mara itself will be played by Christian Poltéra with works by Johann Sebastian Bach and Benjamin Britten.
