The concert is a passionate and captivating musical journey to the south of Italy, on the trail of traditional music and ancient soundscapes. The repertoire ranges from the Apulian pizzica to the tammurriata from the region around Mount Vesuvius and the tarantella from the Gargano to the Sicilian tarantella.

Accompanied by accordion, double bass and flute as well as typical instruments such as the frame drum, the tammorra, the zampogna (bagpipe) and the mandolin, tarantelle, pizziche, tammurriate and so-called stornelli, old love and work songs from the oral tradition of various regions, are performed. A special highlight of the evening is the performance by the dancer, who irresistibly captivates the audience with her various dance forms.

The band Marenera has been playing in Berlin since 2020 and consists of European musicians who have chosen this city as the center of their lives. The project was born out of a shared passion for the tarantella and its original rituals, which are rediscovered and brought to life here.
