Irish musician Maria Somerville released her second album and debut project on 4AD, Luster, in April. A few months after its release, Somerville now announces a brand new EP titled Luster (Remixes), set for release on January 21.

In total, the EP gives new life to six tracks from Somerville's already mesmerizing, windswept album in fitting and sometimes surprising ways, thanks to the involvement of a number of friends and collaborators (Seefeel, YHWH Nailgun, Fatshaudi, colle, Asa Nisi Masa & Oscar18 and Boris).

Along with the announcement, three remix tracks from the EP are released today - Seefeel's slow-burning "Stonefly" remix, extending the track to over 7 minutes, with crackling synths and whispered cosmological choruses; colle's (Maya McGrory of Chanel Beads) "Projections" remix, in which she emphasizes the original's yearning with delicately plucked strings and lightly swirling feedback; and the dizzying and romantic remix of "Up" by Brisbane-based underground dream-pop artist Fatshaudi (aka Rachael Ryan), in which she elevates the track to an even glossier, more atmospheric plane.

Maria Somerville's 'Luster', an otherworldly yet down-to-earth album featuring the atmospheric and buzzing dreamgaze singles 'Spring' and 'Garden', reflects her experiences on the banks of the Corrib in her native Connemara in Ireland and pays homage to the soundscape of classic 4AD collective This Mortal Coil.

In the short time since its release, the critically acclaimed album has been named "Best New Music" by Pitchfork and received a rave review in the Guardian. It was also named one of the "30 Coolest Artists of Today" by The FADER and voted one of the best albums of 2025 by Clash and Loud & Quiet.

To further celebrate "Luster", Maria Somerville will go on tour next spring, with more dates in the United States (including the Big Ears Festival in Knoxville, Tennessee), the UK and her native Ireland (headlining dates in Limerick, Dublin and Galway). Further dates in the EU will be announced shortly. In addition, it has just been announced that she will be supporting two shows on My Bloody Valentine's UK/EU tour (Manchester and Dublin) in November, after choosing the band's breakthrough album Loveless as her Pitchfork Perfect 10.

This upcoming tour follows the highly acclaimed, sold-out 2025 shows in New York and London, as well as other well-received headline appearances in the UK, EU and US (with shows alongside Chanel Beads, James K and others).
