Today, the two artists Mariana Perez Carrero & Luise Weidehaas will be performing. The latter describes herself as follows: "I choose words that I like for situations that move me, describe landscapes, remember encounters and harmonize everything melodically," says Weidehaas in line with the guiding principle Melody is king. Born in Meissen, surrounded by her parents' record cabinet - Cat Stevens, Roberta Flack, Stevie Wonder. Her grandmother was a piano teacher and sang opera. She studied philosophy and German language and literature in Düsseldorf before starting her doctoral thesis on political song in the GDR. Long before Luise Weidehaas picked up the guitar, she sang in the school and university choir of the HHU and various band projects. She borrowed her stage name Weidehaas from her mother, whose maiden name it is. Inspired by longer study visits to Canada and England, she released her EP Swell on her own in 2015. This was followed in spring 2020 by her debut album Shore under her own label Point Reyes, which was named "one of the best German-language song albums of the year" in the DLF-Kultur program Tonart. Her voice is said to have an "English lightness" (WESTZEIT) and her phrasing a "Celtic origin" (WDR 4). Her musical sources of inspiration include Feist, Sufjan Stevens, Kat Frankie and Bon Iver. She has been compared to Suzanne Vega (Folker) and Sandy Danny (WDR 4) and described as "a kind of mini Joni Mitchell in German" (SR 2 KulturRadio).
Weidehaas has already played at SR 2's Bistrot Musique, the DVERS/NL showcase festival, the Golzheim Festival and the Traumzeit Festival. Luise Weidehaas is currently working on her third record, which will be released in spring 2025, with support from the GEMA and Neustart Kultur artist grants and the Pop Stipendium 2022.

In her project "Of Hands and Music", artist Ute Krafft transforms the hands of important musicians into lifelike sculptures and thus preserves them for future generations - as a small fragment of space and time. It is a non-profit art project, the sculptures are created for exhibitions and remain a permanent part of a museum's collection. There are already more than 300 musicians, including many well-known bands, who have been inspired by the project.

Each exhibition in the "Of Hands and Music" series will be accompanied by small concerts. Musicians whose hand sculptures will be shown will be playing - and at some concerts in the series, I will also be sculpting their hands on the day of their performance.
