In the frontline town of Mariinka in eastern Ukraine, war was part of everyday life long before 2022. Shot on 16mm over a period of ten years, the film follows young people from the Ukrainian frontline town. A promising boxer becomes a medic at the front, a girl smuggles goods across the border in order to survive, and two brothers fight on opposing sides. While their youngest brother grows up far away from the war in the USA, they stay behind in a crumbling city. Letters, video calls and silent encounters reveal how the war tears families apart and how Mariinka slowly disappears from the map.
