Martín Palmeri - Misa a Buenos Aires (Tango-Messe)
In the organizer's words:
Tango and Church Music Combined
With Martín Palmeri’s “Misa a Buenos Aires,” the Bodelschwingh Choir of the Laurentius Parish in Lübeck will present an extraordinary concert experience on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at 5 p.m. at the Bodelschwingh Church, Richard-Wagner-Straße 95.
Premiered in 1996, the mass combines the traditional Latin Mass text with the expressive soundscape of Tango Nuevo. The “Tango Mass” ranks among the most impressive contemporary choral works and blends sacred tradition with South American passion. Rhythmic energy and classical compositional techniques come together to give the work its unmistakable character.
In addition to the Bodelschwingh Choir, a string quintet—featuring Jan Baruschke and Mirja Woltersdorf, among others—will perform. The soloists are Julia Hallmann (mezzo-soprano), Antje Steen (bandoneon), and Olga Mull (piano). Sven Fanick serves as musical director.
The Laurentius Congregation cordially invites you to this special concert.
Tickets are available at the Box Office. They cost 20 euros; for schoolchildren and students, the price is 12 euros.
