Matthias Ningel // Harmonie
In the organizer's words:
Music and cabaret
In his fifth solo program, Ningel is concerned with the big picture: harmony.
Not only about musical harmony, but also about harmony in society. Even the ancient Greeks had a bold idea: musical harmony and cosmic harmony are based on the same order.
Ningel takes this idea further and asks himself what the current state of harmony is. Why do today's times feel so out of sync? Isn't the pulse of time rather a ventricular fibrillation? He tracks down social phenomena and makes them audible by translating them into music. How does a song sound that forces the audience to make permanent decisions, like an order at Subway? At what percentage of mistakes does a musical work become unstable and vulnerable? What is the attraction of destroying harmonies? And why can't all these misanthropes sing or dance?
Despite winning multiple cabaret awards, Matthias Ningel unfortunately doesn't know how to put the world to rights either. That much honesty is a must. But as a musician and cabaret artist with a doctorate, he tries to sort out the chaos until a coherent whole emerges. He coaxes musicality out of things, turns words into drum grooves and even manages to turn the screeching asparagus peeling machine into a solo instrument in the world orchestra. Harmonie is universal musical cabaret for all generations and a declaration of love to music.
