Content:
Marko believes he has found his way: He is celebrated as an athlete at school, he has a stable relationship with his girlfriend and a good job is waiting for him in his father's workshop. He is someone everyone likes - and when it comes to protecting his Croatian home village from a flood, he stacks sandbags like everyone else. But then a friend from the past turns up and awakens feelings that call Marko's carefully constructed self-image into question - and the self-image of the conservative village community along with it.
Background:
"Walls of Sand" is a melancholy story about growing up and the hopeless attempt to be the person others think you are. Director Cejen Cernic Canak stages love carefully and free of sentimentality as a force of nature that makes its way - no matter how many dams are built. An exciting, yet very unobtrusive piece of young queer cinema, timelessly beautiful.
Info:
