Francis Ford Coppola invested 40 years of planning and 120 million dollars in his major project Megalopolis. Urania is showing this monumental film in the Humboldt-Saal, Berlin's largest movie theater in terms of seating capacity.
Megalopolis is set in a future America. The city of New Rome, a dystopian version of New York, has to change, which leads to conflicts between the brilliant artist Cesar Catilina (Adam Driver) and his adversary, the mayor Franklyn Cicero (Giancarlo Esposito). While one dares to take the leap into a utopian, idealistic future, the other clings to a backward-looking status quo characterized by greed, vested interests and partisan warfare. Between them stands Julia Cicero (Nathalie Emmanuel), the mayor's daughter, whose love for Caesar has divided her loyalties, forcing her to find out what she believes humanity really deserves.
Francis Ford Coppola is one of the most renowned filmmakers of our time. The six-time Oscar winner is the director, screenwriter and producer of films such as "The Godfather", "Apocalypse Now", "The Dialogue", "Tucker", "One with a Heart", "The Outsiders" and "Bram Stoker's Dracula". As a writer, director, producer and cinema pioneer, Coppola has created films that have decisively shaped contemporary American cinema. (Constantin Film)
