Herman Melville (1819-1891) made his mark on world literature with "Moby Dick" - but who was he really? In his new novel (Berlin Verlag), Munich-based author Thomas Lang follows in the footsteps of the American author. While cleaning out his parents' house, his narrator Meander, who has been scarred by life, comes across an unfinished book project of his own - and memories that have long been suppressed. It was to be a book about Herman Melville, about his adventurous and tragic life, in which Meander now discovers himself. And the more Melville disappears, the more Meander emerges.
