Metahaven - The Feeling Sonnets

With their new film "The Feeling Sonnets (Transitional Object)" (2024), the Amsterdam-based art collective Metahaven interprets poems from the volume "The Feeling Sonnets" (2022) by Eugene Ostashevsky. The visually impressive essay film follows the main character ONE as she discovers Ostashevsky's verses. Words, phrases, sentences and poetic conventions are extracted and distorted against a historical backdrop. The film's central concepts of indeterminacy and transition are expressed through a soundtrack by composer inti figgis-vizueta. The film reflects on questions of artificial intelligence and language. The research project was initiated as part of the HALLE 14 symposium "Is Language Wordless?" in March 2024.
