Blues Pills return with a new album and single: "Birthday" will be released on August 2, 2024, and the advance track of the same name is already circulating. The song tells the story of singer Elin Larsson's birthday. On tour in Mexico, she invited the entire band and crew to celebrate, but a waiter decided to overstep all boundaries and ruin her birthday. With "Birthday" she gets even with the guy pretty consistently, and the whole album is similarly uncompromising. Blues Pills have left all boundaries and expectations behind to write music they love. Larsson was pregnant while writing this album and often felt that her growing son gave her more energy and a new sense of freedom while recording the vocal tracks. Sometimes Brody Dalle, sometimes Janis Joplin, sometimes all soul, sometimes dry blues, Larsson delivers raw and powerful action with her stellar voice. She is accompanied by Zack Anderson on guitar, André Kvarnström on drums and Kristoffer Schander on bass, who deliver infectious grooves that just won't quit. Furthermore, it strengthened the Blues Pills as a whole in their concept of being a feminist band, firmly based on mutual respect and standing up for themselves and each other. "I needed to do that for myself and for other moms to not give up on their own passions after becoming moms. It took some time to connect the two worlds that I love." Because at home, the Swedes may seem mellow, relaxed and even nerdy as they curate their vinyl collection or wander through the snowy landscapes of Sweden with their dogs. But on stage, the band erupts like a volcano, their presence has developed and increased over the years. With her vision of merging gripping soul with blues and rock'n'roll and transforming it into an incomparable force of energy, intensity and freshness, she has breathed new life into an entire genre. And she does it again with the new record. Blues Pills are coming to us on tour in October.
