METAMORPHOSEN
In the organizer's words:
Directed by: Vincent Kresse / Steffi Lang
Everything is in a state of flux—nothing stays the same: a stone becomes a human, a human becomes a frog, a god becomes a bull, an elderly couple becomes trees.
Ovid’s*Metamorphoses*tells of wondrous transformations that sometimes occur as a means of salvation, often as punishment, and sometimes as a reward from the gods.
Our theatrical adaptation brings a selection of these transformation stories to the stage. Through language, movement, and everyday objects, a vibrant world comes to life on stage, where the myths of antiquity are transformed into contemporary imagery:
sensual, poetic, and witty.
Although they are over 2,000 years old, the themes explored in*Metamorphoses*are timeless and fundamentally human: greed, pride, and vanity; burning longing and overconfidence; but also love and hope.
