In the organizer's words:
Mirandolina is a young Florentine landlady. She's pretty, patent and knows what she wants. Of course, this brings her a host of admirers.
Two noblemen are currently staying at her inn and are grandly wooing her, each in his own way. What a pleasure it is for Mirandolina to let the suitors run riot, to play them off against each other and to snatch their gifts and favors.
Just before things threaten to get boring, another guest arrives. A gnarled cavaliere who has long since sworn off women and smiles at the spirits of the other two - but only until Mirandolina makes it her mission to make him burn with passionate adoration for her.
As if that wasn't enough of the wild courtship, other guests and the waiter of the house also get heavily involved in the foul-mouthed goings-on. Tempers flare and, in the end, Mirandolina is left with only one surprising escape from the hustle and bustle: marriage - which she had no intention of doing.
With "La Locandiera" (1752), Carlo Goldoni threw off the masks of the commedia dell'arte for the first time and developed his own form of comedy. It is a great pleasure to follow the Italian comedy master into this new literary territory - and the young ensemble of the Grüne Bühne München has great pleasure in preparing a turbulent and musical evening for you.
