In the organizer's words:

The Philara Collection is delighted to open the MODULAR ORGAN exhibition by Phillip Sollmann & Konrad Sprenger in cooperation with the 20th IDO Festival (International Düsseldorf Organ Festival). To mark the anniversary, the walk-in sound system Modular Organ System will be presented, transforming the former glassworks into a resonance chamber over a period of three months.

MODULAR ORGAN operates beyond fixed categories of instrument or sculpture, is neither a classical organ nor a pure adaptation of one, but rather a state of sonic compression, spatial tension and physical experience. The installation consists of components such as pipes or wind bodies - e.g. made of glass fiber funnels - and sound-generating modules that are detached from the housing of a classical instrument. Tones are not simply played here, but sound is created in and with the space as a physically, individually perceptible event.
