w. The Assistant *live, The Carlson Tow aka Ron Kilian & Buzz Boris

The assistant seems to be at the end. In the dubious clinic under palm trees, he comes to in a daze. Diagnosis: amnesia on the Amazon! A course of cactus juice is supposed to help him search for clues in the swamp of memories. In the end, all that remains is the realization: "Nothing picks me up like melancholy." As with his debut, the assistant is accompanied on the second part of his odyssey by the sounds of the late seventies and early eighties. A sound like on a mixtape that has been lying in the South American sun on the rear shelf of a dented Citroën Visa for too long. His sofrito of library muzak, dub rhythms, Japanese reggae and yacht rock, spiced up with Latin and bossanova, is served up on delicate white bread soul.

The lyrics are sometimes absurd, always full of longing and at least ambiguous. An Easter egg has been hidden here and there: Jörg Fauser, Raymond Chandler and Agatha Christie send their regards. In familiar Marlowe style, the narrator drifts through the (nightmare) dream worlds of his eight songs. Is it Tom Hessler himself who appears in the distorted mirror of the cocktail bar, or his alter ego?

The assistant returns as a relaxed, desperate Fitzcarraldo, who tries to heave a vacation steamer full of grooves from the Spree over a magic mountain in the rainforest, disappearing into worlds beyond space and time. Wolfgang Pérez (Golf), Magic Manfred (Stella and the Longos), Pedro Goncalves Crescenti (The Düsseldorf Düsterboys, International Music) and many more help out.

Buzz Boris will curate a series of concerts for our *Wohnzimmer this season. For the first one he invited "Der Assitent" aka Tom Hessler for a concert to our stage. Get ready for a melancholic mix of Dub, japanese Reggae, Yachtrock with a pinch of Latin & Bossa Nova. Selected music before by your host Buzz Boris.
