„Mörder­ische 20er Jahre“: Düssel­Duo mit Susann Brennero und Christa Holtei

"Vampire of the Lower Rhine" - that was the name given to Peter Kürten, whose trail Susann Brennero follows in her biography. The serial killer, who stabbed his victims and drank their blood, terrified Düsseldorf from February 1929 to May 1930 and fooled the police and press until he was finally caught, convicted and executed to great public attention.

"Murder Year" by Christa Holtei takes us back to Düsseldorf in 1929: a serial killer is keeping the city on tenterhooks, the police are searching feverishly and trainee detective Martin Römer has a tough nut to crack on his very first case. Despite the spreading fear and nervousness, combined with a growing hatred of Jews, a group of young people try to enjoy the lifestyle of the "Golden Twenties" and counteract the negative mood.

Maren Jungclaus from the Literaturbüro NRW will moderate the event.
