In the organizer's words:

Mülheim Comedy Night

Since 2011, the “Lachnacht” has been touring live throughout the German-speaking world. From Flensburg to Liechtenstein, from Brüggen to Glauchau—now at about 60 venues in fantastic theaters, on magnificent open-air stages, and in great civic centers—it’s a highlight of comedy that takes place mostly once a year: Amazing hosts, brilliant comedians, and talented musicians deliver an all-around successful “evening of cabaret.”

Whether “old hands” or newcomers: Here you’ll see artists who touch both the heart and the mind. Fresh every night, different every night. Because live is always better!

Once again this year, the evening will be hosted by the fantastic Ole Lehmann, “the voice” of the Quatsch Comedy Club and a veteran host of “Lachnacht”! When Ole is in top form, there’s no stopping him—not even his colleagues, who are always delighted to be introduced by him and share the stage with him. He’s once again bringing along a lineup of the funniest comedians and cabaret artists from across the country, and the evening promises to be another spectacular celebration of cabaret!

HG. Butzko, who started doing cabaret 25 years ago, now takes a look back at the payment demands of the last quarter-century, and it becomes clear: It’s time to take stock and settle the score with the tricksters and deceivers, the blind and the blenders, the elected and the voters, the butchers and the calves. And that’s why the Gelsenkirchen-based trailblazer of German cabaret once again shines a light on all the lies, cover-ups, and false promises of the past 25 years in politics, business, and the media. Well, not everything. Because then the show would last four days.

As a psychologist,Vera Deckers observes her surroundings, and it seems as though the narcissists have taken over: packaging is more important than content. Attention is the global currency. Only those who are online truly exist—and the loudest one wins. Helicopter parents consider sugar the new heroin. Teens slave away as influencers in the YouTube open-pit mine. Self-improvement junkies pay for every step, burp, and nightly snore. Times like these breed self-doubt: Can cabaret keep up with the times if you don’t even have a heart rate monitor? But the trained psychologist also finds some reassurance. Scientific studies prove it: Occasional drinkers live longer than people who don’t drink alcohol at all!

Roger Stein offers rousing, boisterous musical entertainment that blends comedy songs, singer-songwriter style, and post-romanticism. With powerful versatility, self-deprecating humor, and charm, he rambles his way through his program—playing multiple instruments and spouting rhymes—and offers a fiery guide to disciplined rebellion without pointing fingers—but certainly not without giving the middle finger! With razor-sharp rhyming skills, he explores the depths of satire and poetry, pulls the rug out from under simple metaphors, and lets language run wild. He skillfully blends hip-hop elements with the German folk song tradition, thereby crafting his very own musical style.

Nektarios Vlachopoulos is a slam poet and humorist, a former German teacher with a background in Greek integration, and in times when the well-behaved middle class longs for simple solutions in the face of an ever-faster, louder, and more confusing world, he finally refuses to make a clear statement. With lightning speed, the certified amateur lexicographer and hard-hitting street cabaret artist discusses the marginal societal problems of the outer middle class. “A very clear ‘yes and no’!” is the manifesto of non-commitment. A cautious recommendation for action, carved in granite, for indecisive dogmatists. The ambivalence—now a program in itself—of the negated contradiction on the day of rushing against the tide. A must-see for anyone who doesn’t want to. So get your pens out and put them down—you can procrastinate tomorrow. Nektarios is now setting the record straight! Or maybe not. He’s not quite sure about that….
