An estimated 5,000 Jewish refugees survived the Holocaust in exile in India, including the head of the Jewish community in Dresden, Max Lesser, and his wife Ellie. Leipzig-based journalist Iris Völlnagel has been researching life in exile in India since 2018. She reports on her research using photos and documents.
