Do you feel like getting out and about, but a typical stroll through the city just doesn’t seem like enough? Then here’s a tip for Munich: a self-guided detective tour on your smartphone—taking you through the most beautiful corners of the historic Old Town, around Odeonsplatz.
You’ll dive into a story: In Munich, money is visible on almost every corner—and as we all know, too much of it spoils the character of a place. Maximilian Zeiler, a millionaire businessman, sometimes squanders the annual income of a Munich resident in a single night during his wanderings through the Old Town. Amid all these excesses, his fidelity suffers as well: through numerous affairs, he has spent wild nights in the most beautiful corners of the Old Town. His wife has now caught wind of this—and hires you as private detectives to secretly tail the millionaire.
Your journey takes you through the most beautiful parts of downtown Munich: As you follow the millionaire, you’ll discover the places that are truly worth seeing—making this the perfect experience for anyone visiting Munich for the first time. Along the way, you’ll occasionally get a glimpse into Munich’s world of luxury and learn fascinating facts about popular landmarks like Odeonsplatz, the Hofgarten, and the opulent Maximilianstraße. We’ll also spill the beans on the most decadent excesses the city has ever seen—and keep sharing tips on the best photo spots in the Old Town, straight from local photographers. At each stop, you’ll find fascinating facts, just like on a guided city tour, along with puzzles and challenges.
The concept is simple: You book, you’re ready to go right away, and you can start whenever you want—the rally is available around the clock (best played in daylight) and is valid for three years. Everything runs through a web app right in your browser—no download needed, and no guide required. All you need to bring are charged smartphones with internet access (only a few MB) and, ideally, a power bank. According to feedback from other players, the tour is one of the more relaxed ones, and if something does come up: You can cancel your booking for free up until the start. If you’d like, you can split into teams and compete against each other with statistics, rankings, and high scores.
After all, money can buy almost anything—but not memorable adventures. You have to experience those for yourselves. Are you ready? For 2 or more people, approx. 120 minutes, recommended for ages 16 and up and for adults.
