MÜNCHEN. LESEN UND HÖREN - ein literarisch-musikalischer Spaziergang
In the organizer's words:
Guest performance by and with Michael Schleicher and the Ensemble Luise
What does literature sound like? And what sounds do texts have? "Munich. Reading and listening" is an encounter with creative people and book people from "Isar-Athens" to "Wahnmoching" and today's Munich. Join Michael Schleicher and the Ensemble Luise on a literary and musical stroll through the decades.
In his book "München. Lesen und lesen lassen" ("Munich. Read and let read", published by Klinkhardt & Biermann), the author and journalist Michael Schleicher formulates a declaration of love to the world of books and delves into the cultural development of Munich based on the history of the L. Werner bookshop, one of the oldest in the city at more than 140 years old. After all, bookshops are much more than just places where books are sold. Their history itself tells stories.
Schleicher is accompanied by the Ensemble Luise, which brings the decades to life: The journey takes the musicians and the author from the end of the 19th century through the wild 1920s in Schwabing to the present day. An evening in which books swing to the beat of music, a journey through Munich past and present, a literary concert and a celebration of reading.
When words become music and music tells history - the result is an evening like this. "Munich. Reading and listening" is a declaration of love. To reading. To Munich. To readers. To the bookshop as a place of remembrance, of encounters, of quiet revolt.
This is how old Munich meets today in a dialog of words and sound.
A literary concert. A journey through time. And an evening that celebrates the culture of togetherness.
