Münchener Biennale: Wie geht's, wie steht's
In the organizer's words:
The composers Andreas Eduardo Frank and Patrick Frank go in search of happiness in the economic centers of Munich and Basel. What is the relationship between collective happiness and the unhappiness of individuals? Is it possible to share the path to happiness with others? The two Franks invite the audience to a musical happiness forum in the foyer of the Gasteig. On a journey through the body centers heart, brain and intestine, the three-part performance puts different concepts of happiness up for debate. Audience and performers meet in a kaleidoscope of concert mini-formats, music-theatrical actions, intimate discussion circles and culinary art breaks. Socio-philosophical theories meet intimate stories and very personal definitions of happiness. Happiness researchers and extreme athletes have their say, as do worms, Nietzsche, Ghandi, you and me.
The different styles of the two composers in Georg Schütky's production form the basis of a polyphonic collaborative work of art with the participation of Ensemble Lemniscate, opera singers, professional and non-professional performers and the via-nova choir. The result is a place to linger, enjoy and ponder the question of all questions: what is happiness?
