Münchner Jazzsalon – Jimmy Smith
In the organizer's words:
The Innovator of Organ Performance
He popularized the Hammond organ in jazz: Jimmy Smith established it as a central instrument of the genre. His virtuoso playing, fast runs, and rhythmic bass lines on the foot pedals set him apart. He also blended elements of bebop with blues and gospel. In doing so, he had a profound influence on all organists who followed him. Mathias Bublath and Oliver Hochkeppel present his music and his life.
