Musikfestival: Schubert-Tag - Soiree: Forellenquintett
In the organizer's words:
Schubert's meditative "Nachtstück" for piano trio opens a program that makes us think about time and timelessness. Préludes and Debussy's violin sonata, Steve Reich's eight-part "Cello Counterpoint" (played here by the viola) and the playful, dance-like Schubert Variations by the 20-year-old Helmut Lachenmann complement the Viennese early Romantic composer's ideas, as expressed in selected songs. The concert concludes with two timeless Schubert masterpieces: the seemingly free-flowing, calm and serene "Grand Rondeau" for piano four hands and his famous "Trout Quintet".
