New York-based Japanese soul singer Nao Yoshioka has sung her way to the top of the soul music scene. This is due to her ability to combine technically perfect training with strength of character, sensitivity and soul. Her single "My Love" is a collaboration with Jarreau Vandal and showcases her entire artistry in just one track. Wonderful. "My Love" is a single from her upcoming and now fifth album "Flow". She presents it here at the Yard.

The artist from Osaka has now been in the business for over ten years. She originally wanted to become a visual artist, but joined a band as a singer during her art college studies and promptly changed her plans. She expanded her knowledge of blues and soul music in singing lessons. Her move to New York then brought her the awakening experience when Sam Cooke's song "A Change Is Gonna Come" hit her right in the heart.

Yoshioka's success initially came via Japan, where she was discovered by the Tokyo label Sweet Soul Records and released her debut album "The Light" in 2013. Shortly afterwards, she also cracked the music market in her adopted country and became the best-placed Japanese R&B singer in the US charts to date. She has worked with the likes of John Batiste, Mamas Gun and Takuya Kuroda.
