Westkreuz—this neighborhood in District 22 is characterized by high-rises from the 1970s as well as single-family homes and apartment buildings. Running right through the middle is the central green corridor. For a long time now, plans have been in place to create an exemplary combination of recreational spaces and ecosystems here. During the walk, the concept of a climate park and the great importance of inner-city green corridors as local recreational areas and fresh-air corridors will be explained. It will also highlight the green corridor’s importance for the urban climate and its role in connecting the neighborhood through walkable routes. As a first step, the new “s’Fredl” youth recreation center—with its attractive outdoor facilities, some of which are open to the public—was officially opened in the fall of 2025.
