new basement

"Youth culture, DIY, right now!". This should be the goal in all basements of the city. With great role models from various teen rock scenes (Brixton/London, Chicago, Melbourne, Seoul, Philadelphia etc.), the young music dorks called 'newbs' decided to redefine many things within the local music scene for themselves. The deal is to play shows and meet new friends, create connections between local bands and friends from out of town. This time we will host the wonderful group 'Kind' from Berlin - an up&coming project full of incredible songs highlighting their diverse influences.

"Take me there, Monoma. Where one thing is enough; one thing at a time." sings the music project Kind in their song "Monoma", moving from their folk origins into various genres such as shoegaze, slow-core, dream-pop, kraut and post-punk. In search of what surrounds us, they tell stories in snippets that sometimes sound more energetic and sometimes calmer. Starting out as a duo, they came together as a quartet in Berlin in 2023, which means that their sound, which previously seemed to be mostly characterized by a sense of melancholic longing, now stretches more towards a light-footed and quirky playfulness.

The music group Kind moves from their folk origins into various genres such as shoegaze, slow-core, dream pop, kraut and post-punk. As they search through what surrounds them, they talk in snippets that sometimes sound more energetic and sometimes calmer. Starting out as a duo, they came together as a 4 piece band in Berlin in 2023, giving the sound that previously seemed to be characterized by a feeling of melancholic longing now more of a light-footed and quirky playfulness.

Shā Mò (沙漠) (Post Rock / Kraut Rock)

Shā Mò (沙漠) gives us an insight into the school days of the musicians from Shanghai, China. During their time here in Munich, it became increasingly difficult to identify with their home country, both politically and socially. However, indulging in shared memories from their school days brings a new, beautiful and almost mythical connection to their homeland. With unconsciously used elements from Chinese folk music, shā mò (沙漠) will present a set full of loud guitars, personal anecdotes and uplifting tension.

Shā Mò (沙漠) gives us an insight into the school days of the musicians from Shanghai, China. During their time here in Munich, identification with their home country became increasingly difficult, both politically and socially. However, reveling in shared memories from school brings a new, beautiful and almost mythical connection to home. Using elements of Chinese folk music unconsciously, the four-piece band shāmò (沙漠) will present a set full of loud guitars, personal anecdotes and building tension. The first album will be released in late summer.
