Nico Semsrott has moved from the stage to politics to change it with jokes. Even to his own surprise, that didn't work out. Too bad.
Anyway, the omens have changed completely since the 2019 European elections: While at the beginning he was still asked "What is satire allowed?" the question in the permanent crisis is rather: "What is reality allowed?" In the meantime, he finds that the relationship between inside and outside, " politics" and "the voters*," is one big misunderstanding.
Using very concrete examples, he tries to explain why the two sides cannot understand each other. And how and why he himself is also mistaken. As a demotivation trainer in the European Parliament, he does exactly what he has done before: He fails. Only on a different stage. Unfortunately, this is not always funny, but it is highly relevant.
His groups of visitors in Brussels and Strasbourg regularly overrun the allotted time and continue to discuss even when Nico has long since returned to his parliamentary office, staring at the ceiling with an expressionless face.
The evening itself is also just an experiment - a mixture of prepared bits and a desperate attempt to answer the audience's questions satisfactorily.
