The Rydvall Mjelva Carr Trio presents new Nordic music. The ensemble brings together three outstanding figures from the Scandinavian music scene: Erik Rydvall on the nyckelharpa, Olav Luksengård Mjelva on the Hardanger fiddle, and Ale Carr on the zither. The three had long been inspiring one another before they formed a trio rooted in the musical traditions of Sweden and Norway. Elements of this folk music now blend in surprising ways with influences from Baroque and chamber music, while the trio’s passion for improvisation lends a modern swing and ease to their sound. The result is a refreshingly contemporary take on Nordic tradition.
