The Nordpark was created in 1937 as part of the "Creative People" exhibition. It was the garden show part of a thematically and spatially larger National Socialist propaganda and industrial exhibition. After the park was occupied by the British military from 1946 and only slowly returned to the people of Düsseldorf, numerous redesigns took place in the 1950s and 1960s, which are still preserved in the park today. During the tour, garden monument conservator Claus Lange explains the impressive history of the park with its National Socialist references. Alongside Benrath Palace Park, it is still the green space in Düsseldorf with the most intensive flower and shrub beds. The Japanese Garden was created in 1975 according to the plans of a Japanese garden architect, a gift from the Japanese community living in Düsseldorf to the citizens of this city.
