The power of Marcos Morau's dance meets the maestro of film music Ennio Morricone.
The Spaniard Marcos Morau, who was named Choreographer of the Year 2023 by the magazine "tanz", pays a visually stunning homage to the Italian grand master of film music Ennio Morricone. Known for the surreal visual language of his choreographies, Morau is particularly interested in the intersections of different arts - from dance to film to music - and thus creates playful imaginary worlds and poetic landscapes. In this "Night with Morricone", Morau and 16 dancers from the Italian company Centro Coreografico Nazionale/ Aterballetto bow to Morricone's work, which goes far beyond the scoring of Italian westerns with legendary music for films such as "Once Upon a Time in America" and "Cinema Paradiso". At the same time, Morau makes Morricone's oeuvre his own with the perspective of another generation, creating his own personal narrative cosmos. The result is a visionary choreography that hovers between dreams, symbolism, reality and linguistic connections.
