What if you only had a single day?
As a wild boar and a fox watch the mayfly hatch, they know immediately: It would be better to disappear right away. Because the little fly is surely enchanting—they’ll become friends and maybe even fall in love. And who’s going to tell the newly hatched fly—who thinks she’s a Mayfly—the truth anyway? The wild boar and the fox stammer their way out of the situation with great difficulty: The fox, poor thing, wouldn’t survive the day, which is why they’re so sad.
