Nuremberg, 1945: The American military psychiatrist Dr. Douglas M. Kelley (Rami Malek) is tasked with examining the imprisoned main perpetrators of the Nazi regime. Among them is former Reichsmarschall Hermann Göring (Russell Crowe), whose intelligence, charisma and manipulative strength both challenge and fascinate Kelley.

Despite initial power games, the doctor succeeds in winning Göring's trust and gaining insight into his personality. As the trials begin in the courtroom, Kelley finds it increasingly difficult to maintain the necessary distance. He crosses moral boundaries and even jeopardizes the Nuremberg trial.
