LOS BILLTONES

The band from Zurich seems to have fallen out of time, because Los Billtones have a very precise idea of what they want to sound like: Like the Jamaican rocksteady formations from the 60s and 70s, at the time when ska was gradually giving rise to early reggae. Lush riddims, soulful vocals and big feelings. Their inspiration came directly from the rocksteady greats of the time such as The Paragons, Keith&Tex and the young Bob Marley. Their great first album "For A While" is the result of several years of work. The stories told are personal and yet timeless. With three-part vocals, Los Billtones sing about unfulfilled love, longing and hope, while the organ, trombone and guitar outdo each other with heart-rending melodies. And indeed: the recordings sound as if someone had found a 50-year-old record in the attic, briefly blown the dust off it and then turned up the record player. Better get ready, come do rock steady!
