The guided tour through the permanent exhibition of the Upper Silesian State Museum offers a fascinating insight into the rich history and culture of the region. Visitors experience a multifaceted journey through the centuries, characterized by tradition, art and culture through to significant historical events.

To commemorate the victims of the Upper Silesian tragedy, the themed tour will be supplemented by a short lecture on January 11, 2026. This deals with the events following the Red Army's invasion of Upper Silesia in January 1945, when tens of thousands of Upper Silesians became victims of violence, forced labor and deportation to the Soviet Union. Tabooed for decades, the trauma of that time still affects many Upper Silesian families today. The so-called Upper Silesian tragedy is a part of European post-war history that is hardly known outside the region. The lecture at the Upper Silesian Museum will therefore also commemorate the tragic fate of the Upper Silesian population.
