Kate Carter is a former storm chaser who had a devastating encounter with a monstrous tornado during her time at college and now only studies storm sequences on screens in New York City. Her boyfriend Javi nevertheless lures her back into the field to test a groundbreaking new tracking system for the deadly storms. There she crosses paths with Tyler Owens, the charming and reckless social media superstar who makes a living posting his storm-chasing adventures with his boisterous crew - the more dangerous, the better. As the storm season comes to a head, unprecedented, terrifying phenomena are unleashed. Kate, Tyler and other competing teams find themselves in the middle of the paths of multiple storm systems converging over central Oklahoma, fighting for their lives.
