In post-war Rome, Amelia meets Matteo, an up-and-coming Communist Party official. Unfortunately for Amelia, their relationship is to remain a secret. She is not from the upper classes and has no intellectual background. Because Matteo is used to getting his way, the unclear relationship status remains. Amelia, meanwhile, also reads communist literature. This is not the only reason why she is acutely aware of the contradictions between political theory and chauvinistic behavior.
Elda Tattoli sketched a milieu in the film that was probably familiar to her. She expressed her sometimes harsh and angry criticism in satirical moments and surreal sequences. However, as the real crappiness of things would have it, this extraordinary debut film went largely unnoticed, while the director's companions became famous.

The pearl-like shadowy existence of this unjustly forgotten film is celebratedwith an analog 16mm projection and a supporting film.
